George delivered a fantastic service- I am very pleased. It is clear that George is very experienced and knowledgeable about a range of different pests. His customer service was excellent too. Also went above and beyond and provided advice on sealing vent holes even though this was unrelated to the primary problem. Thank you George.

Pest2Control very helpful, polite on time and reassuring. Needed help with catching squirrel/s in loft space. With 3 visits, cost similar to other pest control groups that quoted. Great team to complete this task. Thank you 😊

An excellent job. Had a mouse issue and George was thorough. One payment but three visits. Each time mice were caught but last time - none. Advice on blocking up the air vents also helpful. They also fitted the one way rat valve in the sewer. Great job.

Why Mice Love Streatham’s Edwardian Terraces

Most of the local housing was built between the 1880s and the First World War, when the railway arrived and the area grew into one of south London’s biggest suburbs. Street after street of Victorian and Edwardian terraces and semis, many now split into flats, share the same features: suspended timber floors with a void underneath, air bricks along the front and back walls, chimney breasts and flues, and party walls shared with the house next door.

For mice, that’s a ready-made network. Once they’re under the floor, they can reach every room on the ground floor, climb the cavity and chimney breast to the first floor and loft, and cross into the neighbouring house through gaps in the party wall. It’s why a mouse problem can seem to go away after a few traps, then return the following autumn. Our mice control page explains the signs to look for.

Signs Mice Are Living Under the Floor

Scratching or scurrying under the floorboards in the evening, droppings behind the kitchen kickboards or in the boiler cupboard, and a stale smell in under-stair cupboards are the most common signs. If the house next door or the flat below has mentioned mice, it’s likely they can reach you too.

Rodent Proofing That Stops the Yearly Cycle

Treatment clears the mice that are already inside. Proofing is what stops the next ones following. In older homes here, we usually find the same entry points: cracked or missing air bricks, gaps around gas and water pipes where they enter the house, holes left behind kitchen units after refits, worn door thresholds and gaps where an extension meets the original wall.

Each one is sealed with materials mice can’t chew through, and air bricks are proofed with mesh rather than blocked, so the floor void stays ventilated and dry. Our rodent proofing service covers the whole process, and it’s the single most effective thing you can do if you’ve had mice more than once.

Proofing a Converted Flat

In houses split into flats, proofing works best when the whole building is considered. We can proof your own flat, including the gaps under kitchen units and around pipework, and point out shared entry points, such as air bricks and the communal hallway, for the freeholder or managing agent to deal with.

Bed Bugs in Flats Along the High Road

The High Road is one of the longest high streets in London, and much of it is lined with flats above shops, mansion blocks and shared houses. With tenants moving in and out regularly, bed bugs are a common problem. They travel in luggage, second-hand furniture and mattresses, and in blocks they move between neighbouring flats through gaps around pipes and cables. We inspect thoroughly, treat with steam and professional insecticide over three visits, and advise on neighbouring flats where needed.

Commercial Pest Control for High Road Businesses

The High Road has a huge mix of restaurants, takeaways, cafes, grocers and shops, many in older buildings with basements, shared walls and storerooms connecting neighbouring units. Mice and rats move between premises through these voids, and kitchens can see cockroaches and flies. Food businesses must show environmental health officers that pests are under control, and our commercial pest control contracts include regular visits arranged before opening, after closing or at weekends.

Moths and Fleas in Older Family Homes

Period houses with wool carpets, fitted wardrobes and loft storage are a favourite of carpet and clothes moths. The larvae feed in the places that are rarely disturbed: along carpet edges behind doors, under beds and heavy furniture, and inside bags of stored jumpers and blankets. Bare patches along the skirting or irregular holes in knitwear are the usual giveaway. Moths are one of our specialist areas, and our carpet moth treatment page explains how we clear them.

Fleas are the other common problem in homes with cats and dogs, or in flats where the previous tenants had pets. Flea pupae can wait in the carpet or between floorboards for weeks, so bites often start a few days after moving in. Our flea treatment deals with the eggs and larvae in the floors and furnishings, not just the adult fleas you can see.

Squirrels and Garden Rats Near the Commons

Streatham Common, The Rookery, Tooting Bec Common and the large gardens of Streatham Park and Streatham Hill give grey squirrels and rats plenty of cover. Squirrels get into lofts through gaps at the eaves and under tiles, often from overhanging trees, and our squirrel control service removes them and seals the roof. Rats are drawn to compost bins, bird feeders and the space under sheds and decking, and the railway embankments running through the area give them routes between gardens. Our rat control page explains how we deal with them.

Pest Control Across Streatham

We cover Streatham Hill, Streatham Park, Streatham Common, Streatham Vale and the High Road, across the SW16 and SW2 postcodes. Streatham is part of the borough of Lambeth, and our Lambeth pest control page covers Brixton, Clapham and the rest of the borough.

We also cover neighbouring Tooting, Mitcham and Croydon. See all the areas we cover.

Questions We Hear Most

Why do mice keep coming back every winter?

Because the gaps they used last year were never closed. In older terraces, air bricks, pipe entries and gaps under kitchen units are the usual routes. Treatment followed by proofing breaks the cycle.

Can mice come from next door?

Yes. Terraced and semi-detached houses share floor voids and party walls, so mice move easily between neighbouring homes. Proofing your side stops them getting into your rooms, even if next door still has them.

Will proofing my air bricks cause damp?

Not if it’s done properly. We fit mesh that keeps mice out while letting air flow through, so the space under the floor stays ventilated.

Can you treat a whole house that’s been converted into flats?

Yes. We can work with the freeholder, managing agent or all the residents so affected flats and shared areas are treated together.

How quickly can you get to me?

We aim to respond quickly and can arrange evening and weekend visits when needed. Call us and we’ll tell you when we can be with you.
